How to Hide the Dropbox Menu Bar Icon

Handy hint. I dislike cluttering up my menu bar with applications. I don’t really see the point when the Dock is already providing enough of its own clutter. Tweetie and Twitterrific both kindly offer options to disable their menu bar icons. This tip shows you how to replace Dropbox’s menu icon with a few transparent ones.

iTunes Script to Download Available Purchases

If you subscribe to a season pass of a show in iTunes, you can set Mail to run this script whenever you get an email that a new episode is available. It’ll have iTunes download the episode and then delete the message.

Very useful. For some games you need the F1-F12 keys to be function keys, but normally I want them to control volume, show Dashboard, etc. Save this script as an application, put it in your Dock, and it will open System Preferences and toggle the checkbox.

Mac tip: scroll arrows at both ends of scroll bars

Open up Terminal (in Applications/Utilties) and type this in:

defaults write "Apple Global Domain" AppleScrollBarVariant DoubleBoth

It’ll place a pair of up/down buttons at both ends of your scroll bars, instead of just at one end.
