The Irish Hate George Bush

Things I learned in Ireland: the Irish love Bill Clinton and hate President Bush. Clinton was instrumental in negotiating the IRA ceasefire. The first St. Patrick’s Day that George W. Bush was in office was a Saturday, and he refused to meet with the Irish prime minister to receive a traditional gift because he doesn’t work weekends. When the JMU band played at the New Year’s Day parade, the MC listed a bunch of their recent appearances, including the innaugural parades for Clinton and Bush. Clinton got applause, Bush got loud boos.
