With the coming integration of chat into Gmail, I figured I’d give Google Talk a whirl. Almost everyone uses AIM, I know, but if you want to catch me, I’ll be signed into Google Talk for a few days. My username is my email address.
Using it so far for all of one chat, it’s a nice client. First, it’s simple, which is key. Second, I like the pop-up notification they use, at least on the Windows version. I like that it filled in a friends list for me from my most-emailed Gmail contacts. I even like that it can auto-log all the conversations in Gmail, creepy though that may be.
There’s little chance I’ll use it from home, but if I do, I’ll be using this method to use Google Talk with iChat.
How do I configure iChat for Google Talk?
Info from the Google Help Center. Really I kind of like this approach better than using their own client (if a Mac version existed). I like having one chat client to rule them all.
